The Ministry (MTTCINVB) represented by 3 senior  officers attended the “China – Indonesia Culture & Tourism Investment Summit and China-Town Opening” held in Bali on 27th and 28th hosted by the ALP Group Company and the Indonesian Government.

Invitation to the Ministry to attend the event was from the courteously of Mr. Steven Li, who is an existing foreign investor in Vanuatu. Costs on travel and accommodation was covered by Mr. Li.

The purpose of inviting the Ministry is for staff to actually see the types of investment Mr. Li and his business partners owned in Bali, Indonesia. He believes there are untapped investment opportunities in Vanuatu that he and his group could exploit as part of their business expansion strategy, particularly to Vanuatu.

Mr. Steven Li was an existing investor in Vanuatu with 4 VIPA approvals granted by the VIPA Board to conduct different categories of businesses. He has already invested over 100 Million Vatu in one of his proposals and will be investing more in other business activities.

Although the mission was short however, it was very specific and targeted and the team strongly believes there will be positive outcomes if effective communication is maintained with Mr. Li and his business partners. As a result of discussions and other types of interactions the team had with the ALP groups, the following are critical observations the team would like to propose for consideration by the Ministry.

This mission is in line with VIPA’s promotion approach – shifting to a more focused and target approach. The team has visited a specific market who is involved in a targeted business category of hospitality and real estate.
