Vanuatu ranks 2nd in happiest place in the world!
Vanuatu has done it again and shortlisted itself to rank 2 as the 2nd happiest place on the planet by the Happy Planet Index (HPI).
Vanuatu previously ranked twice as the Happiest Place in the world in the past and has proven itself again through data provided by the Vanuatu National Statistics Office (VNSO) under its well-being indicators.
The HPI considers life satisfaction, life expectancy and ecological footprint in order to rank countries by how much happiness they get from the amount of environmental resources used. The ranking shows where there is greater ecological efficiency in living long and happier lives.
Vanuatu ranked 1st in 2008 out of 178 countries and 1st in the Asia Pacific region in 2016. Vanuatu has consistently remained in the top 5 for each year that it has been included in the HPI since 2006 which is testament to the tourism promotion of Vanuatu as a destination, export market promotion opportunities and more.
Regular collection and report of well-being data has helped shaped national dialogue and focus policy on what matters most for the people of Vanuatu.
The ranking has also been a key promotional advantage for VFIPA to use to help foreign investors in their decision to choose Vanuatu as an investment destination.
