call-for-stronger collaboration

Promoting Vanuatu through enhanced institutional collaboration

The two weeks “La Foire du Pacifique (Pacific Trade Show) and Wik Blong Vanuatu in Noumea, 2 – 8 October 2025”, confirms the need for a more enhanced collaboration between the Government and Private Sector to increase Vanuatu’s visibility and promote its attractiveness for investment and a destination of preference for visitors.

Vanuatu First National Real Estate, Vanuatu Foreign Investment Promotion Agency and Vanuatu Financial Services Commission are a classic example on this effort as they shared a single booth during these events. Ms Catherine Bourdier, Director for First National Vanuatu Real Estate must be commended for taking the leading role to make things happen between the 3 institutions.

While First National is focusing on promoting market opportunities in the real estate industry in Vanuatu, both the VFSC and VFIPA explained the business processes and requirements on how to set up a business in Vanuatu to visitors visiting the booth.

We need to work together if we are serious about promoting Vanuatu as an ideal investment location – to ensure consistency in our campaigning messages, unique selling propositions, priority sectors, incentives and government polices.

Vanuatu booth owners have been busy during the entire week engaging with different types of walk-in visitors and receiving wide range of inquiries. Staff manning the booths could not respond to queries outside of their institution’s mandates. For the process of obtaining Vanuatu passports through different types of revenue initiatives promoted by the Citizenship Commission.

Otherwise, the daily number of visitors was phenomenal reflecting how successful the booth was in terms of its set up including the displays and the overall event organisation that saw positive response from the business communities and the general public in New Caledonia.

While different booth owners will have their own experience and outcomes, the overall take from the Vanuatu delegation was – it was an awesome event, an opportunity which everyone has committed to its success. We have learnt what works well and what needs to be done better. This is something that each member of the delegation needs to think of and provide their views in preparation for the next event – stated Mr. Jean Marrie D. (VCCI advisor) in his concluding remark during the delegation’s dinner on 4/10/25 after a hard days work.

During the two weeks beginning 1 – 7 October 2025, a whole of Government & Private Sector delegation from Vanuatu are in Nouméa, New Caledonia participating in two major events:
La Foire du Pacifique (Pacific Trade Show) and Week Blong Vanuatu – showcasing Vanuatu’s tourism, products, services and opportunities to the wider Pacific and French market, promoting business and investment opportunities.

The Department of Tourism Investment Team together with VFIPA (Vanuatu Foreign Investment Promotion Agency) and the Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce & Industry (VCCI) are part of the delegation – highlighting Vanuatu as a destination not just for travel, but also for serious investment across tourism, trade and industry.

These events represent a unique platform to build networks, strengthen trade ties and attract new investment that will create jobs and growth for our people.
