Patients still in Isolation

The Director General (DG) of the Ministry of Health (MoH) and Spokesperson for the COVID-19 confirm that, the two latest coronavirus cases detected during the quarantine are still in isolation at the Vila Central Hospital (VCH). The two cases were imported from Papua New Guinea (PNG) and they are not citizens or residents but were on an official visit for work purposes in the country.

Daily monitoring will always be a priority between health workers and the patients, regarding any sign of illness until they receive their next tests in the next five days. The cases are asymptomatic, meaning they are infected with corona virus but developed no symptoms.

All travellers entering Vanuatu, regardless of citizenship, must follow testing of quarantine requirements or to be isolates in order to keep Vanuatu safe. It is a precautionary measure that helps reduce the risk of a contagious disease of spreading around. Health workers in the country will always assist in providing appropriate resources and other protective equipment to anyone who is entering the country or may have a close encounter with a covid-19 patient.
