VFIPA Successfully Concludes 10-Day Business Mission to China
The Vanuatu Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (VFIPA) has successfully concluded a 10-day business mission to Beijing and Qingdao, People's Republic of China, with the VFIPA delegation led by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Raymond Vuti. The mission reaffirmed Vanuatu's commitment to attracting quality foreign direct investment (FDI) and strengthening economic partnerships with one of its key international partners.
Throughout the mission, the VFIPA delegation held a series of productive meetings with Chinese businesses, investors, industry associations, government representatives, and strategic partners in both cities. These engagements provided an excellent platform to showcase Vanuatu's investment potential and promote opportunities across the priority sectors identified under the Investment Promotion Strategy (IPS) 2026–2030.
The mission generated encouraging interest from Chinese companies seeking to explore investment opportunities in Vanuatu. Several businesses expressed their intention to continue discussions with VFIPA, undertake further due diligence, and explore potential partnerships and investment projects. These engagements have established a strong pipeline of investment leads that VFIPA will continue to facilitate through its investment promotion and aftercare services.
During the meetings, VFIPA presented the Investment Promotion Strategy (IPS) 2026–2030, highlighting the Government of Vanuatu's commitment to fostering a transparent, competitive, and investor-friendly business environment. The delegation also shared information on Vanuatu's investment framework, available investor support services, and VFIPA's role in assisting investors throughout every stage of the investment journey.
Beyond promoting investment opportunities, the mission strengthened existing partnerships and established valuable new connections with organizations committed to enhancing economic cooperation between Vanuatu and China. These engagements have laid a strong foundation for future collaboration and further reinforced Vanuatu's position as an emerging investment destination in the Pacific.
VFIPA extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Mona Mato, Trade Commissioner of Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) China, Ms. Jane Ma, Head of Investments, and the PTI China team for their outstanding support in coordinating the business mission, facilitating high-level meetings focused on investment promotion and strategic cooperation, and connecting the delegation with carefully selected investors and key stakeholders throughout the programme. Their continued partnership played a significant role in the success of the mission.
The Agency also acknowledges the valuable support of the Ministry of Trade & Commerce (MTC), Vanuatu, whose continued leadership and commitment to promoting trade and investment have strengthened Vanuatu's engagement with international partners and contributed to the success of the mission.
VFIPA further expresses its sincere appreciation to the Life Cycle Green & Technical Committee of the China International Association for Promotion of Science and Technology for co-hosting the Vanuatu Investment Forum in Beijing. Their collaboration provided an important platform for promoting Vanuatu's investment opportunities, facilitating meaningful dialogue with Chinese businesses, and strengthening bilateral cooperation between Vanuatu and China.
VFIPA also wishes to express its sincere gratitude to Mr. Max Jia, an independent investor with business interests in the Pacific Islands who also serves as Chairman of Hainan Ziran Culture Media Co. Ltd, for his invaluable support in coordinating the delegation's programme in Qingdao. VFIPA is grateful for the commitment, local expertise, and hospitality extended by Mr. Jia and his team, whose collaboration reflects the growing spirit of partnership between Vanuatu and China and created new opportunities for future investment cooperation.
VFIPA is grateful to all the businesses, organizations, and strategic partners who welcomed the delegation and participated in constructive discussions. The positive response received throughout the mission demonstrates increasing confidence in Vanuatu as an attractive destination for sustainable and mutually beneficial investment.
Following the successful completion of the mission, VFIPA will continue working closely with Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) China and other strategic partners to maintain engagement with the companies and organizations that expressed interest in investing in Vanuatu. The Agency will actively follow up on investment enquiries generated during the mission and provide timely investment facilitation services to prospective investors.
VFIPA remains committed to supporting interested companies through every stage of the investment process—from initial enquiries and due diligence to project establishment and long-term aftercare. Through continued collaboration with PTI China, the Ministry of Trade & Commerce, Hainan Ziran Culture Media Co., Ltd, the Life Cycle Green & Technical Committee of the China International Association for Promotion of Science and Technology, and other valued partners, VFIPA aims to convert expressions of interest into quality investment projects that contribute to sustainable economic growth, employment creation, private sector development, and long-term prosperity for the people of Vanuatu.
