INVESTMENT REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE
Obtaining a foreign investment registration certificate (FIRC) is the first step in doing business in Vanuatu. By talking with us first, we will ensure that your business is viable and fits within Vanuatu’s investment guidelines.
Without a valid FIRC, foreign investors will not get passed other regulatory agencies. Any investor found operating a business in Vanuatu without complying with the regulatory requirements is considered an 'offence' and will face penalty charges.
Online registration of a new FIRC takes 1-7 working days or shorter provided that all necessary supporting documents are included with your application form.
During the online registration process, ensure that all supporting documents listed below are included, otherwise the system will not allow you to proceed any further:
•Fully completed application form and statutory declaration signed.
•Photo-copy of business name reservation.
•Business Plan (VFIPA template).
•Photo-copy(s) of passport ID pages for each investor.
•Photo-copy of original Police Clearance Certificate(s) for each investor intending to reside in Vanuatu.
•Photo-copy of purchase and sale agreement for investments involving acquisition or taking over of another business.
•Photo-copy of land documents for investments requiring access to land.
•Photo-copy of preliminary environment impact assessment (EIA) report for investment projects that have impact to environment.
•Photo-copy of partnership documents for investment projects comprising partnership with the Government.
Once you have a Foreign Investment Registration Certificate (FIRC) you will be required to submit an Annual Survey each preceding year to update the agency on the progress of your investment. You can also apply for a Variation to your investment activity if and when you wish to add another investor to your investment, add an additional activity to your investment or change your business name.
All of the above application can be done online through our registration portal.
